Ramgarh is a a serene and secluded cool small hill station and tourist destination in Kumaon region. It’s on the way to Mukteshwar in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. An unobstructed view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas from this place can be seen. This hill station is founded by Bristish and was frequently visited by many high profile personalities of India and British. The hill station carries the legacy of some ancestral buildings, used as inspection bungalows and temporary stay palaces for officers, dating back to British colonial period.

The famous poets Rabindra Nath Tagore and social worker Narain Swami had established their ashrams over here. The writers Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ and Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan, famous by his pen-name “Agyeya” also lived here.  There is also a library dedicated to famous Hindi poet writer Mahadevi Varma, who got the idea of writing Lachma, the famous story, in Ramgarh.

It comprises two parts – Malla, located on an elevation and Talla, located downhill. There are also nearby places like Madhuban- Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Hartola and Nathuakhan, all accessible from Nainital and Bhimtal.

Ramgarh has a pleasing climate all through the year. Summers (May to June) are pleasant and have a maximum temperature of 30°C and a minimum of 20°C. Winters (November to February) are on harsher side and have a maximum temperature 10°C and a minimum of 2°C. Monsoons (June to September) have medium rainfalls, best time to visit here is all through the year, except winters.

Ramgarh is well connected by roadways and local taxis. Regular bus/taxi services ply to and fro the city. There is no direct rail connectivity,  The nearest railway station to Ramgarh is in Kathgodam, which is 53 km away from Ramgarh. Nearest Tourist attractions from Ramgarh is Nainital (35KM), Bhowali (20 KM), Mukteshwar (30 KM).
